Celebrate KY Wildlands FREE Linocut Workshop

In 2021, we received a 2021 ART MEETS ACTIVISM GRANT from the KY Foundation for Women to host FREE linocut (linoleum block printmaking) workshops at three Kentucky Nature Preserves in 2022. The workshops are now complete! Prints are available for purchase at the Flea Off Holiday Market November 25, 26, and 27 around the corner from Logan Street Market on Kentucky Street in Louisville. Follow the signs on Kentucky Street. They will be available on the website store after November 27.

The three nature organizations for this year's grant cycle, where the workshops were held, are:

* Louisville Nature Center, Louisville KY -- JUNE 25, 2022 9am - 5pm

* Floracliff Nature Sanctuary, Central Kentucky -- SEPTEMBER 17, 2022 9am - 5pm

* Kentucky Natural Lands Trust (KNLT), Kingdom Come State Park -- OCTOBER 22, 2022 9am - 5pm

Each one day workshop was open to 20 participants: self-identifying feminists (ANY GENDER) as stipulated in the grant, 16+ years and older. ALL ART MATERIALS were provided by the program. The workshop included a guided hike of the nature preserve in the morning, inspiring and educating the participants about their local ecology. Teresa instructed the students in carving linoleum blocks based on some aspect of nature. Our hope is that each participant enjoyed reconnecting with the natural world through the powerful practice of art-making. We want to celebrate joyfully our beautiful wilderness that remains in Kentucky; as well as teach a valuable, easy artistic skill.

Five prints made by each participant at the workshop have been donated to the fundraiser print sale with all proceeds going to each hosting Kentucky nature organization. Participants then got to keep their block so they can make more prints for themselves. For more information, email mteresakoester@gmail.com.

Support for this program was also made possible by Preston Arts Center and Quest Outdoors.
